Job title:  Care Assistant
Division:  Home Care
Responsible to: Senior Care Assistant/Care Co-ordinator

Purpose of the post:
To provide a needs-led, person centred service. Working with the service user to promote independence whilst meeting person care needs, in such a way to achieve: respect, dignity, choice and participation.

Context:
Caring for people is a valuable job which requires forethought, concentration, sensitivity and commitment.

The post is designed to enable service users to have the opportunity to live in their own homes, as tenants (or otherwise), and be fully supported in the areas of personal and social care according to assessed needs. The job involves visits to service users’ homes, therefore an element of travelling is required.

Purpose of the post:
To support the service user to live a valued life both within his/her own home and as a member of the local community, with the provision of a high quality 24 hour service, promoting choice, independence and dignity

Principle responsibilities:

To support the service user with personal care needs, mobility, medication assistance and community access, using appropriate and preferred communication methods

To carry out household tasks including preparing and cooking fresh meals, basic household cleaning, washing and ironing and assisting the service user with shopping and financial record keeping
